[Greg Fleet] These Things Happen [knitting Book] TXT Final rating 355This book was funny and sad Fleet manages to blend the two seamlessly creating a well rounded recap of his life There were a lot of moments in which I felt the story dragged There were also some bits I felt were unnecessary page fillers A bit editing would have made this bio effective The story of a 30 ye

This book has left me a little shell shocked if I m being honest I ve called books hard to put down before but the hardest moment to put this one down came right after I d finished it I was there holding the book tightly because I felt like I needed to hug someone and the book was the closest and only option at 4am in the morning What a deep dark honest personal journey I mean don t get me wrong it s written by a comedian it s still a damn funny book I think I woke the neighbours whilst laughing at the Kings of Wrongtown chapter And the tale of him and his gay friend James on tour made me grin like a madman But man this book took me to some scary places I have not been to before And Fleet doesn t pull the usual autobiographical trick of making himself the hero or the victim of the story Or if he does he s a hero against himself as the villain victim against himself as the perpetrator And he paints both sides of those stories convincingly well Perhaps most importantly he knows how to articulate his experiences with addiction so that a young coddled bubble dwelling layman like myself can actually get it in ways I hadn t been able to understand before His analogies like the ever deepening hole or the descending shutter door barrier between him and his partner really turned a key in my brainReading this I just had two constant thoughts I can t believe this happened and I can t believe he s telling me I honestly can t recommend this enough Irvine Welsh says it best on the cover You really have to read it
